Legacy Gift

Your generosity will help to inspire future generations to investigate organisms of the past and to keep our discipline alive.

The Palaeontological Association is a registered charity whose aim is to support an inclusive community that explores and shares life’s history. We do this through research, advocacy and education: our activities include our publications, meetings, outreach and educational programmes, and awards and grants. Please consider leaving a gift to the Palaeontological Association in your will. Your generosity will help to inspire future generations to investigate organisms of the past and to keep our discipline alive. The Palaeontological Association Small Grants scheme includes a number of programmes that exist as a result of bequests from generous members of our community: Peter Sylvester-Bradley (1913-1978), Harry Whittington (1916-2010), and Stan Wood (1939-2012). They have benefitted scores of palaeontologists since being established. We gratefully acknowledge the foresight and dedication of these thoughtful donors, and appreciate all gifts, large and small.

Leaving a legacy allows you to give back to the community, supporting our activities, and ensuring the work of the Palaeontological Association continues. It also changes your inheritance tax liability - legacies to charity are free of inheritance tax. Such gifts can be specified in your will as a “lump-sum”, a proportion of your estate, or in other forms such as a gift in memory of a loved one, or stocks and shares.

Please contact us if you are interested in leaving a legacy or adding the Palaeontological Association as a beneficiary in your will. Please also seek professional advice when inheritance planning. If your estate planning already includes the Palaeontological Association, thank you. We are incredibly grateful, and your generosity will help us support the palaeontological community for decades to come.
