Who was Dorothea Bate?
The Dorothea Bate Award is named for Dorothea Minola Alice Bate FGS (1878-1951). Dorothea Bate, a Welsh palaeontologist and a trailblazer in archaeozoology, dedicated her career to uncovering fossils of recently extinct mammals. Her research aimed to unravel the mysteries behind the evolution of giant and dwarf species.
